Xellia Pharmaceuticals is looking for an Engineer to join the Biotechnology Upstream Development team at the Oslo site. The team of 14 scientists and engineers works on strain development, fermentation, scale-up, and technology transfer to Xellia's production sites. The role is part of an international R&D community spanning Oslo, Copenhagen, and Budapest.
Responsibilities
- Development of production strains through mutagenesis and systematic mutant screening
- Establishing and maintaining Master and Working Cell Banks according to GMP standards
- Identification, activity testing, and cultivation of microorganisms
- Analysis of fermentation samples using HPLC
- Planning, executing, and documenting laboratory experiments with high accuracy
- Maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment
- Ensuring compliance with HSE, Quality, and GMP requirements
Some work outside normal hours will be required.
Qualifications
- BSc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field
- Solid experience with sterile techniques, microbial handling, and cell cultivation
- Basic understanding of GMP principles
- Strong attention to detail and efficient work habits
- Good communication skills in a Scandinavian language and English
- Knowledge of microbial fermentation processes and antibiotic production is an advantage
